About
Let the musical adventure begin!
At Youth Marimba Workshop students will grow as musicians and percussionists; play fun music on a variety of marimbas, hand percussion, drums and drum set; increase concentration and discipline; be valued members of a team; and learn the elements of music, its patterns and written symbols, with an emphasis on learning by ear. Classes are taught by veteran music teacher, Teresa Catford, whose mission is to give everyone a chance to experience the joy and exhilaration of playing and performing music.
Fun group classes for kids of all ages!
Meet Teresa Catford
Teresa has over 20 years experience in teaching classroom music and currently teaches general music in the Edmonds School District. Teresa has a Bachelors of Music Theory from the University of Oregon and a Masters of Secondary Education from Western Washington University. Teresa is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood Music and is a member of Washington Music Educators (WMEA) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).
Teresa was inspired to start a after-school percussion band program at her school in 2004 after watching a performance of a visiting youth marimba band. The Meadowdale Elementary Marimba Band, composed of 5th and 6th graders, has amazed audiences ever since with high energy, joyous music.
Teresa takes special pride in supporting all of her students to unveil their inner musician and experience the inspiration and adventure of music.
